In Montana, you have probably noticed that you now need to include the area code any time that dial a phone number. This may have been very frustrating for those contacts that were not saved in your phone with the area code. Why would we need to possibly switch from seven-digit-dialing to ten-digit-dialing!! SO FRUSTRATING! Why did this happen?!?!

Let’s take a moment to BREATHE DEEP!! The reason for this is a GREAT ONE!

Beginning in July of 2022, the National Suicide Prevention Initiative worked to get a 3 number number, 988, to replace the Suicide Prevention Hotline which was a longer 1-800 number. While the Suicide Prevention Hotline is still active as 1-800-274-TALK(8255) the shorter 988 will automatically divert to the longer number.
